Allegation Letters regarding Human Rights Violations in U.S. Immigration Detention Centers (12 October 2018)

Subject: Information received concerning human rights violations at the Stewart and Irwin County Immigration Detention Centers, which are privately operated by for-profit prison companies, CoreCivic Inc. and LaSalle Southwest Corrections, respectively. Reported issues include inadequate provision of food and water, lack of adequate health care, racial and religious discrimination, forced labor, and the use of solitary confinement as punishment, potentially amounting to cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment. Further concerns include violations of due process guarantees, right to family life, and right to life.
