Allegation Letter regarding Systemic Killings and Enforced Disappearances in Brazil (20 June 2022)

Subject: Information received concerning the alleged killings of 69 individuals and enforced disappearance of three individuals, reportedly by members of law enforcement including in the course of police operations and in custody, in the period from 1999 to 2020. Whilst the reported cases demonstrate the systemic and sustained nature of the excessive and lethal use of force by Brazilian security forces, they do not represent all those affected by such patterns of alleged human rights abuses.
