Accessibility Statement
Last updated:15 October 2025
Transnational Justice Initiatives (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to ensuring that our website —
https://transnationaljusticeinitiatives.org/ — is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1/2.2 Level AA, and to align with applicable laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and relevant international accessibility standards.
What We’re Doing
- Building with semantic HTML (proper headings, lists, tables, and landmark regions).
- Providing text alternatives for non-text content where feasible.
- Maintaining sufficient colour contrast and visible focus states.
- Supporting keyboard navigation for menus, forms, and interactive components.
- Ensuring content is usable with text resizing/zoom and responsive layouts.
- Providing descriptive link text, labels, and accessible form error messages.
- Reviewing PDFs and downloads for accessibility and providing accessible alternatives where possible.
- Performing periodic accessibility audits (automated and manual) and addressing issues we find.
Accessibility Features You May Find
- Skip links to jump to main content (where implemented).
- Logical heading structure and ARIA landmarks where appropriate.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls.
- Alt text for informative images (decorative images may be marked as such).
- Captions or transcripts for multimedia where available.
Known Limitations
We recognize that some content may not yet be fully accessible:
- Legacy or third-party documents (e.g., certain PDFs) may lack full tagging or structure.
- Occasional embedded third-party media or widgets may not fully meet WCAG in all cases.
- Recently added pages or features may have minor issues until reviewed and remediated.
We are actively working to improve these areas and welcome your feedback.

Browser & Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our goal is compatibility with current and previous major versions of common browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. Some features may behave differently depending on browser/AT combinations.
Standards & Legal Compliance
We strive to conform to WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA. We also work to align with applicable accessibility laws and regulations, including the ADA, Section 508, and international standards where relevant. This statement is not a warranty of full compliance; rather it reflects our ongoing commitment and continuous improvement process.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We incorporate accessibility into our design, content authoring, and development workflows and conduct periodic reviews. This statement will be updated as we make improvements.
